Brothers, best pals forever

The boys are getting to the stage where they actually enjoy playing together. Tucker is still more hot headed then Carter. Carter tries to be as patient as he can with Tucker. They're mischievous together. Carter usually eggs Tucker on, but then again Tucker doesn't need much egging.

From playing in the pasture, to water troughs, to the bathtub they're loads of fun!  Without a shadow of a doubt, they are all b.o.y! They'll find the freshest pile of cow poo to step in, they love to play in the water troughs or throw the dog in, and bath time is just a big party for these two! Bath toys are useless. It's no fun unless you have fifteen or twenty matchbox cars in the tub, along with tractors, cows, trains... you name it. Whatever happened to rubber ducky?! He's a thing of the past here. Bath time usually entails me cleaning mopping the floors. How can two little people manage to get so much water on the floor?  Hmm...

They're plotting against me in this picture, I promise!

As I've said a thousand times, it's their giggles that make me enjoy the moment. Those giggles that come from way down, deep inside. The ones that take Tucker's breath, the one that makes Carter cackle at the top of his lungs. I can't get enough of them. If I could etch that sound into my memory and play it over and over again as life progresses, I would. The boys remind me that it's the little things in life. It's water dripping down the wall, bubbles on their heads, toys all over the floor, and the normal chaos of our typical days.

A couple months back, you know when the black dirt was a daily happening, I finally got some fun bath pictures of these critters. Bath time is almost the most chaotic part of our day.  You put any two kids in the bathtub fill it with toys and see what happens. I guarantee you there will be water everywhere with those giggles from deep down inside that I was talking about.

Days go by...

I'm reminded of these lyrics as I start this post,

And days go by...
I can feel 'em flyin'
Like a hand out the window in the wind.
The cars go by...
Yeah it's all we've been given,
So you better start livin' right now
'Cause days go by...
Oh and a woo-hoo...

Days fly by. There's absolutely nothing I can do to slow them or freeze them. I'm always catching myself in a moment wishing I could slow down that clock that seems to speed up each day that passes. Call me crazy but to me it seems each year goes by quicker and quicker than the last one did. Bittersweet is the only way I know to sum that up. That's just what last Thursday was for me, completely bittersweet. You see, Tucker has been fighting bedtime for weeks/months now. I'd put him in the crib, he'd climb out. We'd repeat this process numerous times each night. I finally had a mommy moment and came to the conclusion that I was just fighting a losing battle. I can't stop him from moving on to the next stage... the big boy bed was here, it was time.

So I took the front off of his crib and the smile on his face was priceless. It was like a little bird falling out of the nest realizing that he could fly on his own. My heart was sad. I don't want to not have a baby in our house. I want to know that I can go in there and see him so cozy in his little crib, because you know... that still makes him a baby if he's in the crib, right?!

Nap time came, I walked him to his new bed and he climbed up just as pretty laid that little red head down and he was out. Umm, I'm sorry you're not going to fight me or get up or nothing? Seriously?!  I was floored. I couldn't believe my little turkey was laying so peacefully in this "big boy bed". Where did my baby go?

In shock I couldn't believe it. I stood at his door watching him curled up thinking about the night that I first put him in that crib to sleep. It was when he was three months old. Now look at him moving on to the next stage. He's perfectly fine with it, momma... not so much.

That nap went perfect. That night, he climbed right back in bed and was out. That ended when the next night he climbed into Carter's bed and fell right to sleep. That's where he's been every since. Granted I may not have a tiny baby in a crib, I do have two beyond amazing, precious, healthy, beautiful boys sleeping soundly together. It's what family and siblings is all about, isn't' it? The love, the togetherness. It warms my saddened soul.

I love being a mom. I love the little things I get to witness each and every day. I love being the one they rely on for their every need. I love that God has given them to me, and that He has trusted me to instill in them the things they need to get through this life. As I watch them sleep I pray that God gives me the wisdom to guide them as He would have me do. I pray that He allows me to show them a mother that is patient, kind, and loving. It is my prayer that they have a friendship together that will last till their dying days. They are the reason my heart beats each and every day.

Precious babies of mine... I love you. I could tell you that a million times a day and it still would not be enough to make you understand how much I need you and cherish you. You are rays of sunshine, your giggles I can't get enough of, and your love is amazing. I'm grateful for God sending you to me and joyed that the two of you have each other. Sweet dreams my precious boys, I love you to the moon and back!  Forever & Always.... Momma.

...Brothers...

I could listen to them giggle all day long. It's priceless and oh so very heartwarming!!!

Tucker wants so badly to be just like Carter. He's Carter's little shadow!!!  He's my little bear, full of hugs and kisses.

b.R.o.T.h.E.r.S

They're tough, rambunctious, loud, stinky, bossy, BOYS!
IMG_4867
The fight, they pick, they wrestle, and sometimes if we're lucky.... they hug.

***Am I the only one that sees the problem here?***

They're lovable, squeezable, wonderful, giggly, beautiful *yes, I said beautiful* boys. Their my favorite part of everyday!
IMG_4862

Without their tender little voices, contagious giggles, mischievous behavior, and endless messes... my days would be oh so very boring.

Days like this one where they were running, giggling, digging in the dirt, are simply priceless!

Can you see the love?

They love each other so much, can you tell?  Look at the mischievous grin that grows on Carter's face as the disgust grows on Tucker's. This is what I get when I try to get a picture of them together.  Fun, fun!!! :)

Hot days

Our short spring that always lasts maybe two weeks has come and gone. Our days are hot, muggy, and by noon they are just about unbearable!  The boys have been doing their best to stay cool. Here is just a recap of what they've been up too!

Dirty boys, sweet as can be.

BLOG
Tucker is by all means on Carter's heels. He follows him everywhere he goes, and when he doesn't see him around all he says is "Bub..Bub...Bubba!" It's cute, cute, cute.  He tries to do everything Carter does. The other day Carter was playing in the dirt and Tucker wasn't going to calm down until I let him do the same thing. So, off he went. Travis was standing in the yard so I yelled watch him as I ran to grab my camera.

I'm so glad that I did. Little Bear found the darkest black dirt he could find in our yard and started having a blast!! He had it all over him. His face was smutty black, and we won't even talk about his nose. He giggled, and if we tried to stop him from eating a rock or piece of grass he would show us quite the attitude!

I snapped pictures and realized that having 'clean boys' is just a dream. I might as well embrace the dirt in my life and learn to enjoy it as much as they do! They were having the best time!!!  It's a blessing to see them playing together and already showing that brotherly bond. I will say though, I'm more then 100% certain that I will have my hands full when they get to be about 5 & 8.  Lord, help me.

They were both very upset when we went inside. I was on a mission, and that mission was to clean these little monsters!

The cowboy training begins

While I was folding clothes, the boys were hanging out on Carter's bed.  I stepped out of the room to the hall closet only to turn around to hear Carter saying, "Momma, he's a real cowboy!" and seeing little Tucker with this big 'ole hat on his head.  It was the cutest thing.  My oldest little cowboy, teaching the younger one the ropes at such an early age.  When I saw Carter giggling and laughing, I just knew that my days ahead are going to be filled with mischief from these two little fellas.  I can't wait though.

Later that afternoon Carter was playing with his tractors and I gave one to Tucker and Carter said, "NO!  That's mine!"  I told him that was not polite and Jesus doesn't like it when we act like that.  Jesus wants us to share with our little brothers.  He looked at me with a very serious face, then made a deep voice and said, "you don't have to share!"  I looked at him and he then replied with, "That was Jesus, he said I don't have to share!"  Oh the things this kid can come up with.  I didn't know whether to laugh or just ignore it.  I ended up laughing and explaining that Jesus is never mean to anyone, he shares with everyone.  After that he gladly shared his tractor with his brother.  Then last night as he was getting ready for bed he asked if I would rock him to sleep.  I gladly jumped at the opportunity since he usually wants his daddy to put him to bed. When he climbed up in my lap he said, "Momma, why do we have to go to bed?"  I told him because the sun went down and that's our way to know it's time to get some rest for the next day.  He says, "the sun was really hot and had to cool off? and Momma, is Jesus going to sleep?"  Yes Carter, the sun was really hot and needs to cool off for tomorrow, and no, Jesus will be awake if you get scared.  He sighed, closed his eyes and I rocked my almost four year old to sleep.  Travis looked our way and said, "he can be so sweet when he wants to be!"  I just smiled.  Regardless of his rambunctious ways, and his days of totally ignoring me, he's still the sweetest little man I know.
