Mud boggin' & "MonKer trucks!"

Mud, big trucks, loud engines, and boys go hand in hand. One weekend we decided to ride to one of the local mud bogs, Soggy Bottoms. The boys were both super excited. They could not wait for us to park so they could unbuckle and start watching. Tucker was in sheer amazement. He loves him a good 'ole "monker" truck. Anything with the slightest bit of a lift on it, is a monker truck.

Watching the two of them hoot and holler reminds me that they will one day be teenagers... heaven help me. I have a feeling they'll find their way to the big mud holes. If they hoot and holler the way they do now at six and two, how on earth will they act when they are sixteen and nineteen?! Oh boy.

They weren't very happy when we started to leave and are still asking to go back from time to time. We're taking them to the Monster Truck Jam in a few weeks to celebrate Tucker's birthday. He can not wait!!!

Puddle Jumpers

The boys are truly growing quicker than I ever dreamed possible. It seems like we were just playing outside while Tucker looked on from his bouncy seat. Now he's bouncing right along with Carter. Everything Carter does, Tucker does. If Carter says it, Tucker says it. There really is a bond between these two little boys that blesses my heart each and every day.

A few rain showers passed through our area and what do boys do? Boys find the mud. Big boys, and little boys.  When I looked out from the back porch I saw Carter making his way towards the biggest puddle he could find. It was just mere seconds and Tucker was hot on his trail. Moments later, Travis joined in the fun.  Their giggles still ring in my ear. I really don't know who was having the most fun. The boys, Travis, or me as I watched on. It's moments like these that I hear God telling me to take it in, embrace it, and forget the possible stained clothes or the fact that the sun is setting and bedtime awaits. This is the moment.

Mud was flying, giggles coming from both of the boys, Travis speeding around on the four-wheeler (dangerous... well, you know), and me just standing there in the driest spot I could find. Secretly, I was hoping that they would not even think about getting me as dirty as they were!

They weren't happy when the mud party was over, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I believe that they would go to bed dirty if I would let them. Must be a boy thing.

I sure do love these muddy fellows!!

Fishing

Carter has been begging to go fishing. I told Travis we had to take him since we had nothing else planned. I love seeing Carter get so excited about spending time with Travis, doing "boy things".  Tucker, he's always along for the ride!

I must say all these boy activities, secretly have me wanting a little girl to share things with. Sure, I like to fish, ride four wheelers, play in the mud but I don't think the boys will ever be on board to go for a pedicure with me, or shopping.  For now, I suppose I'll just continue to pray and see what God has in store for us and if it's not a little package of pink, I pray for wives for my boys that will love their ma-in-law!

For now, I'll be in the mud, on the back of the four wheeler, or hanging out by the pond if you need me.

Lesson learned.

When you leave your children in the care of their Uncle, don't always trust that things will stay in order.  Easter Sunday we left the children in the care of the men for just a moment and this is what happened.
Note, Tucker's wearing that same "my parents are exhausted" shirt!  It seems to be our motto!
This is what happens when you allow your uncle to watch the kids for a minute.... nice, huh?  It gets worse.

Just have a seat Tuck.

All good times come to an end.
:(

Only the love of a Nana could love this mess!
He gave Nana a kiss... only a nana would like dirt kisses! ;)

My lesson learned, watch the kids yourself if you don't want to clean up mud!

18/365

Day 18...
18/365
Poor guy was playing in the mud when he picked up a big rock, held it over his head and with all his might he went to chunk it and it bounced off his head. Me being the compassionate, loving mother that I am took a picture! He'll love me one day!

Double or triple trouble?

I am so outnumbered here. I will never conquer all the dirt, mud, cow poo, and the natural stench of boys in general. You moms of boys know exactly what I'm talking about. They just smell like outside, all the time! Oh, and the mud, and in our case the cow poo, it's impossible for my cleaning ways to keep up.

Just recently my eldest, Carter, had the idea to make a mud bog from the one area of dirt left in our yard. He grabbed the hose, filled the spot with water, and the bogging began. Of course Tucker wasn't going to just be a by stander, he wanted in on the action!! It wasn't long and here came Travis. I'm sorry but someone remind me, do I have two sons, or three?  Regardless I'm outnumbered!!!

I had so much fun watching Carter spin mud all over his back. It was going everywhere, and the higher it went the louder his giggle went. Tucker was just in amazement all together. I've said it before, I'll say it again, they are going to come up with some very mischievous stunts in the next ten to fifteen years. I just pray that God let's me keep a calm spirit, and a young heart!

Thank you Lord for the messes I'm able to clean, the laughter I get to enjoy, and the memories they make for me each and every day. I am so blessed!!

Puddle Jumper

Our past two days have had black clouds & rain.  The sun has peeped through occasionally but not enough to stay out for too long.  After a passing rain today, out came the sun!! :)  We went out for just a bit and this is what happened.......

Notice the clothes he is in.  He changed back in to his jammies after we came home from swim lessons.  He said it's what he wanted to wear to watch t.v. and take a nap!  The kid always keeps me on my toes! :)  He had so much fun in the puddles.  He even tried swimming in them.  He said, "Momma, it's a good day for swimming!!"  How funny is that???

After jumping puddles and digging his face in the mud, and yes... I was cringing!!!! it was time for a bath.  A tub full of bubbles and a little boy covered in mud and grass.  Now there's a combination you don't hear of often!  Check out his bath pictures!  Good thing that is the only tub that didn't get cleaned today! :)

This last picture melts me.  When I loaded it to the computer, I immediately stopped and just stared.  He looks so much older then three, and it really caught me off guard.  I love it though!!
We had so much fun puddle jumping, and then with all the bubbles, and to end it all ever so perfectly we filled our water guns and planned an attack on Travis!  We quietly tip toed to the kitchen where he was working on our dinner and the ambush took place!  He was taken down by his wife, and three year old.  Tucker was caught in the cross fire... oops!  He ended up with several water drops on his face and gave us a look of 'are you crazy?'!  To answer that... yep, we sure are son, welcome to the family!!!

Mud & bubbles to all....
