Lulla Belle and baby

***WARNING***
This post has pictures of a calf being born. Not for the queasy. :)

Yesterday was such a busy day. I had tons of stuff I really need to get done inside, housework, laundry, mopping (which I've put off way too long), and all the other little stuff. When I pulled out the driveway to take Carter to school I noticed that our dear friend, Lulla Belle, was off to her self a bit. When I got back home I got a call from Travis telling me her "bubble" was out. Okay, I don't think that is a technical term, but it's the term used around this farm to know that a momma is about to deliver her calf.
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
With this new tidbit of information, I grabbed my camera to go out and get pictures of the old gal. She's such a sweet, yet sometimes moody gal. She loves a handout of food, or a good scratch behind the ears and she always has pretty calfs.
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
She walked in circles, would lay for a bit, then eat a little, but you could tell something was up with her. Uncomfortable? Maybe, I don't know. Never really talked to her much, LOL!  It was around 9:00 and Tucker was starting to get close to nap time so we gave her some space and I brought him in to run off that last bit of steam. I scurried around doing as much as I could, but glancing out the window each time I passed to make sure I wasn't missing the moment!
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
Tucker finally went down for his morning nap, and I was out the door. Yes, the monitor was with me on the porch... no need to fret!  I walked to the fence and watched as I could tell she wasn't completely comfortable with me, so I kept my distance. She paced back and forth, then she came to the fence where I was standing for a good scratch behind the ears. After that she gave Lil Joe, our donkey, a few good head butts as if she were telling him back away buster, I'm in no mood for your shanningans.
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
I stayed outside until almost 10:30. Nothing. No baby, zip, notta, nothing. I normally leave at 10:55 to pick Carter up from preschool. The time came, I had to leave. I was so upset because as I was loading Tucker into the truck, she went and laid down... broad side. Lovely, Lulla Belle, just lovely. I've waited, and waited and now you're going to have this calf as I drive away. Thanks, thanks a lot.  I left frustrated that I would miss the moment.
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
After I picked Carter up I had errands I had to run. The whole time I kept thinking, she's had that calf by now, I just know it. 11:45 we pulled in the driveway only to find her right where I left her. Except she was standing instead of laying. I was certain she had given birth, until she turned. NOPE, there was the calf... in the process of being born. I couldn't believe it. It wasn't but maybe another 2-3 minutes and she welcomed her new little, long eared, black calf to Cow Bird Lane!!
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
Being the good momma she is, she immediately started cleaning her and keeping watch for us nosey onlookers! Some of you may think I'm absolutely goofy for being so excited about a cow giving birth. As corny as it sounds, I love this life. I didn't grow up on a farm so this is all new to me and quite frankly I think each and every time it's absolutely amazing.
Lulla Belle.... BLOG
Mom and baby are doing just fine. Lulla was right back to the hay ring within no time! She's not brought little bit up to close yet, she's a protective mammie!  Up close pictures of the new arrival coming soon!

...Mabree & Mallory...

BLOG
My best friend, Renee, has been after me for months to take photos of her family. Last week we both looked at our calendars and had this evening free so we penciled her girls in for a session with me. I honestly forgot all about it until late last night. I called her this morning to see if she was still on for this evening and she said she was.

When they arrived the plan was to hit up the barn, the pastures, and any other outside spot we deemed fitting. The girls were dressed in soft white dresses, their denim jackets, and the cutest cowgirl boots you've ever seen! Both girls have sweet dispositions, but they are very different. Mabree is very quiet and almost shy at times. She is always a huge help when Renee and I need her. I'm sure she gets a little tired of us always calling on her to watch the little ones.

Mallory, the same age as my dear Carter, is the diva. She likes to talk, giggle, and just be prissy. She is the cutest little thing I've laid eyes on. Carter is just smitten by her, and I think she knows it too! Both girls have beautiful smiles, beautiful eyes, and I just adore them. Honestly, if I had too, I could take the two of them in and it would be like having my own two daughters.

I'm grateful for Renee and her family. They are very special to me and my family. Renee is more then just a friend, she's that reminder to me that I'm more then just a mom. Sometimes we walk through life uncertain. She reminds me of my worth, she encourages me, and she inspires me to be a better mom to my children. I thank God that our paths crossed nine years ago in that small doctors office in Callahan. I've found a friendship that I know will last a lifetime!!  I love you Kiki!

The three stooges

I think that title fits us. We're like peas and carrots, wherever I go, they go. Whatever I do, they normally do. It's nice to get a break but usually when I get that break I'm missing them more then I expected. This weekend was no different. I had a wedding to shoot and my mom graciously accepted the responsibility of watching Mo and Larry, while Curly was at the wedding. She was going to keep them over night as well.
BLOG
During the wedding, I didn't have much time to think about what they were doing but when I saw the kids playing in the creek after the ceremony I couldn't help but think how my two little stooges would love to be in that frigid water with the other kids.  Hearing the kids playing and giggling really had me missing my two little fellas.
BLOG
Carter asked mom on Saturday night, "Nana, is momma coming to get us?" She told him not tonight that I'd be back the next day to get them. He replied with, "she doesn't love us anymore?!" When she told me that it made me sad, and quite honestly didn't make me want to leave them anymore. When I came through her door on Sunday I was greeted by the biggest MOMMA! from Carter. Tucker just looked at me like, oh there you are.
IMG_1676
There sweet faces, the feel of their sweet little cheeks when I kiss them, hearing Carter giggle, the shy little smile Tucker Bear gives me, oh how I miss those little things when they aren't with me. Carter went on to tell me all about the fun stuff he'd been doing while at Nana's. Tucker became immediately attached to my hip, and that was all just fine. I always think I'll get a good, full nights sleep when they spend the night away but I don't. I never sleep soundly, I feel lost. It's the weirdest thing ever. I like having my partners in crime with me when the sun goes down!

We enjoyed lunch prepared by Big Granny, then the boys played outside for a bit. Around 4:30 I had to pack up I was off to do two family sessions. Carter wouldn't let me leave until he was certain I was coming back. Do you think he missed me?! I was only gone about a hour or so, and when I came back they greeted me with those big smiles and hugs. That's when we snagged these pictures, and I love them all!  I missed my little guys!

Dennis, Lindsey, and Wyatt

When you take a little boy and tell him you want to take pictures, that's one thing. When you have a little boy, taking pictures in a big field with horses, cows, and countless little flowers to pick, you have something else.
BLOG
I met with Dennis, Lindsey, and Wyatt this weekend to update their family photos. Wyatt is your typical 5 year old little boy. He and Carter are six months apart in age. I know what it's like to get a picture of Carter, so I was ready to go, I had a game plan. See, Wyatt LOVES cars. So I made as if my camera could talk to me and tell me what car, or plane, or frog would pop up through the lens if he looked directly at me. This never works for Carter probably because he knows I'm just after a picture. Wyatt however has not been in front of my camera now in about two years. Low and behold, it worked!
BLOG
This little fella gave me great "cheese" smiles, lots of laughter, and then while we were in the process I asked him who he loved the most. He replied with the sweetest answer, "my momma". I asked him why she was the sweetest and he says, "cause she is nice to me, she plays with me, and she let's me do fun things".
BLOG
Lindsey stood quietly behind me but I'm sure her heart was going pitter patter. Little boys can be so rough and tough that when they have that sweet moment, it melts us. While asking him these questions he was looking at his momma with the sweetest face.
BLOG
I really enjoy spending time with kids and getting to know them when I'm taking pictures. Lindsey, Wyatt's mom, is another life long friend of mine. I don't get to see them as often as I'd like so spending time just chatting with Wyatt was fun. To see his own personality and capture that personality for Lindsey was lots of fun for me.
BLOG
Lindsey, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Our little ones grow up way too fast, don't they? As I told you just a few months back with each new stage, starts a new chapter in their little books!  May these pictures be ones you can put in this chapter and cherish forever!  Thanks for asking me to photograph your family!!  I love you guys!

Life is full...

Do you ever sit back and think how full your life is? Not with the stuff of your life, but the people. Life is about family if you ask me. I don't know where I would be without mine. This weekend I was asked to take family photos of the growing Norman family.
BLOG
I've been friends with this sweet family for as long as I can remember. One of my best friends, Amanda, is their daughter so I've grown up knowing each one of them. Amanda just recently welcomed sweet Brayden into the family, and her brother Darren and Sebrina just welcomed their little guy Dawson. I was pleased when Mrs. Marsha asked me to meet them. What a better time then now to take a new, updated, family picture.

This family is a tight knit group. From Mom and Dad, to the two sons, to their only daughter, your can tell that this family's roots run deep. They love each other, they laugh together, and you can tell that there is just such a sweet spirit about them all. As I started snapping pictures, I could just see how full, and complete Mrs. Marsha was. Her entire family, her little flock all together. Mom's always seem to be the ones that keep it all together. They keep everyone going, offer that smile, laugh, support, or advice whenever we need it.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY THE DAYS I'LL REMEMBER!

Two years ago today, my evening had come to a close and I decided that a blog sounded like something I wanted to do. I sat down to start my new blog with no clue where it would go, no clue if I'd keep up with it, no idea I'd have over 150 followers at some point. I didn't even know what I would name a blog. I remember thinking that I wanted to remember Carter being little, I wanted to remember the little things, the simple things, the laughter. So from that came, The Days I'll Remember. Here I am today, two years later and I'm a bit amazed that I found something that I keep up with longer then a few weeks. Thank you for being a part of this special day with me!

I've learned over the past two years why I started this blog. It's because of this blog that I am reminded day in and day out of how lucky I am to be living this life. Let me correct that, I'm not lucky I'm blessed. I'm blessed to have two healthy children that smile day in and day out. I have a husband that loves me regardless of my hang ups, and a have a beautiful home and want for nothing. By no means am I bragging, I just realize that my cup is full and my life is exactly what I dreamed it would be as a child. I've also learned that I have a gift for writing. I have people email me all the time telling me how much they enjoy the things I write. I have several ladies that tell me that I'm an inspiration to them. Now that surprises me, because I just don't see that but if that's what they feel then okay. God is using me to speak to other people. He's using my blog to speak directly to me. I've discovered that a lot of times when I sit down to blog that my mind is sometimes blank. I'll have a topic in my head but not sure where to start or where to go. Then it's like it just clicks and I start typing. I type what I truly feel in my heart. Whether that be about my family, my views or my beliefs. Sometimes the stuff around here is corny, sometimes it's pretty deep, sometimes it's touching, sometimes it just doesn't even make sense to me so I'm sure you guys are lost. The neat thing is... we all keep coming back! :)

I've made so many new friends over the past two years with this blog. I've met other moms that are doing the day in day out, stay at home mom thing and blogging is just our source of alone time. I still find it hard to accept those words like, "I love your blog!", "Your blog is awesome!", "I check on your blog all the time!", each is an extremely sweet comment but I am just doing something that I enjoy. It brings a smile to my face to know that other people are enjoying the happenings of our small town, farm living life. I've also pushed, or should I say encouraged a few other moms that I know to start blogs and wow! what a blessing those blogs are to me. I'm still shocked that I met a fellow blogger while walking in a small park in North Carolina. Too neat!

Without a shadow of a doubt I am so glad that I have kept up this little story of our life. I look back on past entries and find myself reliving the moment. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh, and sometimes I just get that warm fuzzy feeling. I hope that you enjoy your time here as much as I do. I often wonder what 168 people find so interesting about me and my family. Is there something you want to know about us? Something you'd like me to blog about, anything?? Give me ideas for new things you'd like to see here in my corner of the world wide web.

From the bottom of my heart I say thank you to all of you that faithfully follow what's going on with us. Thank you for your comments, I love reading what you all have to say! Thank you for being encouragers to me. Your kind words, your similar whacky stories, they all mean a lot to me.

With this being my two year blogaversary (is that a word) I am going to give away a duffle tote bag to one of my followers. Here's what you have to do. The complete me in every way possible. They are the reason I get up each and every day. They bring smiles to my face, joy to my soul, and my cup truly runneth over! Even on the hairiest of days, I would trade the chaos for anything. I think sometimes it's the chaos that keeps me sane!

More then a sister. She's a friend, she's a support, she's a prayer partner, she's an inspiration, she's a true reminder that there are good people in the world. I love this dear woman more then she will ever, ever know. It is my prayer that God will continue to watch over her life, guide, and direct her paths. I know that He has something truly spectacular planned for her life. Jess, I love you so very much. I'm proud of you and all you've accomplished.

Then there were four. When we became a family of four, it wasn't easy. My mom did everything within her power to keep our lives as normal as possible. She wasn't able to give us everything we wanted, but we were clothed, fed, and a roof over our head. Looking back now, I had more then I needed. God knew that the three of us would need a strong mother. Someone with compassion, and a hard worker. She was all that and more, and still is. Our mother is truly the back bone of this family. She's my best friend, the one I run to when my heart is broken, the one I seek advice from when I'm not sure where to turn with the kids, and the one I still call on a daily basis just to say hello. I thank God each and every day for this woman. I thank Him that she taught us right from wrong, instilled in us the values we would need to be the people we are today. I love you mom!

Jason and Megan, two of the most go with the flow folks I know. Jason is the big brother that never really had the chance to speak thanks to me and Jessica. He's quiet, he's humble, and he has a heart for giving. He's always willing to help whenever he can. Megan, his girlfriend, is a lot like him. I think she's even more quiet then he is. They both love the boys so much, and I appreciate all they do when they are around. People don't realize how much just keeping them entertained helps me out! :) I love you guys.

Just had to throw these last three in. I love the look on Carter's face. The last one, of the phone booth. On the way home from North Carolina, we stopped at a rest stop and when we got out Carter says, "Mom, I want to call Dad from that funny phone!" I couldn't help but chuckle, and think to myself that when he has kids phone booths will for sure be a thing of the past!
