Meet Little Joe

Back in June I introduced you all to a lovely little fella named, Little Joe. We have been patiently awaiting the day we could bring Little Joe to our farm, and that day came last week.

We loaded up and headed to over to our cousins, Klynt & Heather's house. Heather had the halter on him, and then tried to lead him into the trailer. Anyone that knows anything about donkeys will tell you, they're stubborn. Travis took the rope and pulled Little Joe into the trailer as Heather took care of the rear pushing him into the trailer. It wasn't much of a fight, he went as if he knew exactly what to do.

His momma Georgia on the other hand, she was a bit confused. Where was her baby going?! She started to bray and pace back and forth. Little Joe just stood patiently in the trailer. When we got him home, once again it was like he knew what he was supposed to be doing. He jumped right out of the trailer and started checking out his new home. He lets us pet him, he eats out of our hand, and he loves any bread we bring out to him. I suppose that's his treat for being so darn cute!!

Carter couldn't wait to get him home. He jumped on the trailer as soon as we got home to check on Little Joe to make sure he was alright. We are so glad to have him. He's cute as a button. To hear him bray just makes me laugh. He doesn't have it completely figured out yet but he's getting there. He sounds like a teenage boy going through puberty!!!

I can walk out on the porch and call his name and he starts coming towards me braying. He's not letting the old gals (the cows) intimidate him too much. They are a bit rude to him but nothing that a good kick in the jaw won't help. I've seen that happen a few times since last week!  Welcome home Little Joe!!!

Aww, he's cute! I would have never dreamed 12 years ago you'd be glad to have a donkey for a pet! ;)
