Are you from Mars?

It's cold season, everyone knows someone that is sick with your average cold, or swine flu, or some other sinus infection.  I hate germs, I sanitize my hands each time I get back into the car whether I've been shopping, pumping gas, at the drive-thru window.  The reality of it is, people DO NOT wash their hands like they are supposed too.  This post is a bit of a rant.  I don't do much of that on here, but today I'm letting loose!

Being the germ freak that I am, I cringed this afternoon as I stood in line at Wal-Mart.  The mother behind me pulled her cart up as close as she could get to me without running into me. Tucker was in sitting right there, in his seat cover (avoiding germs) minding his own business.  I reach into the cart to place my items on the counter, when the little boy in the cart behind me reaches up and grabs Tucker's hand.  I immediately pulled my cart forward, the little boy did not let go.  The mother oblivious at first finally caught on that I was about to pull her child out of her cart trying to get my sons hand free, finally said let go of him.  UMMM... you think?!  I was beyond frustration.  Being the kind, even tempered person that I am ((((SARCASAM)))), rolled my eyes and pushed my cart forward.  Lady, are you from Mars?!  How would you like it if I turned around and sneezed all over your kids face?!

The cashier could tell I was annoyed and tried to make light of the situation as she could see I was fuming.  I had to pull my cart back some to get the rest of my items, and when I did the little punk behind me sneezed twice directly towards Tucker.  At this point, I was fuming.  I said, "are you kidding me?"  Before I could turn around he sneezed again.  Do you think his mother said, cover your mouth or anything, NO!  After his second set of sneezes, I said, "seriously, are you not going to tell him to cover his mouth?!"  The mother looked at me as if I was the biggest witch she'd ever seen but at that point I did not care.  I'm usually a very understanding person, but get a grip lady!

Many of you will remember not long ago that our house was full of sickness.  I was sick, the boys were sick, it was a never ending process!  I avoid getting sick at all cost.  It's bad when your own four year old looks up at you and says, "Momma, that little boy should cover his mouth when he sneezes!"  Actually, no it's not bad.  It's wonderful that my son has more manners then a thirty year old woman with two kids!!

So this rant is to shed some light for everyone.  If you are not the mother of little ones, please when you do have children teach them cleanliness.  If you do have kids, remind them of the rules (well, they're my rules, not necessarily yours... but just go with me on this one!). Wash your hands each time you leave the bathroom, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, don't pick your nose, don't put your fingers in your mouth after touching door handles, etc.  It's not rocket science America.  It's plain and simple.  A little common sense goes a long way!!  My Granny always said cleanliness is next to Godliness.  I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't care what cleanliness is next too... JUST BE CLEAN!

Now, for everyone's sake... go wash your hands.

Thank you!
